Here's another possibiliy that just happened to 86 240 with an auto trans-

Developed vibration at highway speeds - worse if coasting - seemed to go away above 65mph. I replaced all the U-joints and center bearing holder and transmission mount- no effect. Then I noticed that the rear driveshaft no longer had any balancing weights on it. Got replacement driveshaft from 84 GL in junkyard which fixed problem.
