Re: 940 Questions 900 1991

Brad,

I have a 94 940 Turbo sedan and I will say that the pedal is extremely soft. I just did a rear brake job on my 1984 Firebird and event though the brakes on it don't feel like they are going to lock up, the pedal is very firm and feels like I get braking action immediately.

I don't know if it is because of Volvo's ABS or 4 wheel disc brakes. I know that even though the Firebird has drum brakes in the back, the front discs are designed to ride away from the disc but have a quick takeup feature to get the pads moving when you want to brake.

Did you use the stock hoses when you had the brake work done? I was considering putting on the IPD brake hoses but I may reconsider if it appears that it won't really help. I don't remember if the IPD hoses have a braided steel outer sleeve, but they claim to address the soft pedal complaint.

Greg
