The terminals in the connector at sensor or in the harness between the sensor and the ignition ECU or even at the ignition ECU itself are likely the culprit. The knock sensor is a very low amperage signal and is very susceptible to any contact problems in any connections in that circuit. There may be a connector under the driver's strut tower-to-firewall brace that could have the wires for knocking sensor passing through it.
