If you look on the side of the intake just below the throttle cable spool, you will see another cable with a orange rubber seal on it. This is the trans throttle cable. Loosen the lock nuts on this cable and adjust the nuts to have less threads on the cable side (front) and more threads on the cable housing side (rear, towards firewall).
This will hold out shifts to a higher road speed. Try a movement of less than 1/4 inch change on this adjustment and then drive it a day or two and see if that is more satisfactory.
