This will get you started.

The book you want, your #1 best DIY pal is Volvo Service Manual:
Volvo Wiring Diagram TP3904202 1994 Volvo 940
Look on Ebay, and used book sources, Abe book etc.
It can be found on-line if you get lucky with sleazy search engines
who want to sell it to you from their proxy websites.

The in-tank pump 6/33
grounded at the drivers side tail light 31/11 in the 945
and towards the center from the same tail light 31/13 in the 940 (under the trim)

the fuel pump 6/31 shows a ground 31/31 at the mounting plate with
the fuel filter.
