1993 cruise control doesn't work

Peter,
You were absolutely correct to check the ground from #8 from the control unit.
The black wire I had coming out of the plug went to no where. I followed it through the loom and it did attach to anything so I spliced into it and attached to a appropriate ground. We have a working cruise control now.
