Sometimes the plastic where the bulb mounts gets too hot and melts and distorts where the bulb holder mounts to the plastic housing. Take a multimeter and see if there is power to the connection. Another way to check is to disconnect the plastic housing from the car and leave the wires connected and wiggle the bulb holder and see if you can get the bulb to illuminate.
