Dear soldon740,

Hope you're well. The factory-installed Volvo catalytic converters are high-quality items. Thus, it is worthwhile to get fixed the broken weld. A competent exhaust shop can do this in a few minutes.

Even if you go with an aftermarket unit, keep the Volvo original item. I'll bet the aftermarket unit's service life will be "pretty short", so you can have the Volvo unit re-installed.

If you don't have storage space for the old part, sell it to an automotive recycler. The Platinum and/or Palladium inside has real value.
