Plug for exhaust downpipe

I have a hole that appeared just forward of the catalytic converter / downpipe Union. I measured the hole with the calipers it's three quarters of an inch inner diameter. I ordered a plug from eeuro parts but it didn't fit. Does anyone know if this is a specialized fitting? It doesn't look like an oxygen sensor goes there (there's no wiring harness dangling).

The real story must be that the plug fell out
