Yes, the threads are the same at both ends. Try to get original Volvo nuts--or BMW nuts both of which are self locking and use a 15mm socket. At a hardware store you are likely to only have a choice of nuts which use a 17mm socket--maybe too large to get a good fit between stud and pipe. -- Dave
