The service manual is sometimes vague and usually for 2 reasons.

The manual has been translated from Swedish to English and it seems not always by someone with technical training and in some cases the writers of the manuals assume the reader already has training in certain procedures, like installing windows.

I have made similar references, for example, the writers of the engine repair manuals assume the reader knows how to replace the engine core plugs used on Volvo engines in various areas on a large portion of the engines they ever made.
