lifter tightness?

The only real way to tell is to measure the lifters and the bores and see that there is enough clearance. Volvo motors do not seem to be hard on lifters and bores. If the bores and lifters are not scored and they fit well, you are good to go. Don't worry about them not falling in under their own weight when coated with oil, the valve springs will push them down. 50% STP at 40° is going to be pretty sticky.
