M40 reverse jumping out of reverse

Hi

My "new" M41 (D type overdrive) has the bad habit of reverse. Beside the obvious ball and spring on the shift rods, what can else be wrong. If I don't get it wrong reverse is strait cut gears and there is no syncro mechanism at all that holds the gear in place when selected. Anyone having some good ideas what makes it jump out?
