It is absolutely great to see your car on the track! I've also driven VIR in touring lap fashion--and found the same technique for getting up a little speed (all things being relative of course as I was in my '80 245 M46 and it was loaded with my luggage, tools and photo stuff). VIR is an awesome track--both to drive and for photos.
I am still using the IPD rims you gave me with some hand me down race tires to go along with your old lowering springs on my 144S. Another friend gave me a Volvo Comp 25mm front bar so I dumped the twin stock bars -- still with a 240 rear bar adapted and a couple of years ago built a limited slip rear--with 4.30 gears. It doesn't take much to make a 140 totally fun on the track. I can stay with any car in the esses at Summit Point. I can't do too much about the 3,000 foot front straight however--oh well.
I'll be running it at Summit Point, West Virginia in two weeks-- another awesome road course out in the woods. I am affiliated with the Eastern Motor Racing Association which is running this two day event on Halloween weekend. Any drivers wishing to get a taste of the track is welcome to join us. We do classroom instruction and ride along instructors for first timers. Contact me at fastforwardphoto(AT)yahoo(DOT)com.....Dave
