This noise could be almost anything, from turbo to a transmission issue. I suspect you'll have to do some noise location first to pinpoint the source and before you start pulling and replacing components. There are some inexpensive acoustic detectors available allowing you to place a sensor on a suspect part and listen through headphones. And if it is a turbo failing, you should be able to hear it in the garage.
