I think the b18 brackets will need to be used. My other 544 is a 1959 with an upgraded B18. From what I can tell, the original B16 brackets must be reused on the b18 upgrade in cars that were equipped with B16 engines originally (1959-1961). Presumably, this means there is different spacing on the B16 cars crossmembers vs the B18 equipped cars. What confused me was that the B18 fit perfectly with the same brackets in my 1959. In 1962 they upgraded to the B18 and changed the brackets and cross member spacing. Someone might be able to confirm this, but I am pretty sure this solves the mystery. Looking forward to getting this project moving past motor mounts!
