You do not want a flat cap, there are special caps for that application - they look similar but work to hold some pressure and release antifreeze at a proper pressure - they also have a one-way valve to allow antifreeze back in as your engine cools.

A flat cap may allow antifreeze to boil off if the reservoir does not have a pressure cap - but, if you put the wrong cap on the reservoir, you might expose overflow components to pressures that they are not designed for.
