What did I break

Well if you can figure out where the other end of the wire goes, post that info back. Again, the heater control valve is strictly vacuum driven. The lug you speak of is just the pivot arm that moves up/down via the vacuum nipple(top bent tube) to open/close the valve. There are no electric components in it's guts. Unless someone added this to try and combat
"Stray voltage electrolysis".
