Bad breather box symptoms. 200 1990

The car has about 325k miles on it, I've owned it for about 8 years and it (presently) runs fine.
There does not seem to be any obvious oil leaks and I have been running synthetic for about 5 years. The crankcase, as "measured" at the oil filler, draws in pretty good.
I have never done anything to the breather box and I keep the oil trap very clean.
My question is should I be thinking about doing some cleaning or replacing of the breather box as a routine maintenance type of thing?
Are there any other symptoms to check for?
