Heeheehee. The pic of you in the back of the trunk is priceless. Sorry I laugh with you, not at you. Been there. I did the IPD upgrade on one of my 940's as well. Yes the longer length does seem to keep the base of the apparatus more fully extended than it was with the smaller original pump. No biggie, it'll work. Don't fret leaving the large plastic nut off, it'll go back on. Just hand tighten to get it started, then place the band clamp back around and barely tighten. Then tighten the plastic nut, then tighten the band clamp a tad...and repeat over and over. Use the band clamp tightening to mate/seat the plastic nut to the tank, so it doesnt strip as you are tightening. Don't recall sizes. But they are cheap(and good to have on hand anyway in various sizes). Use the "rope trick" to get the bottom of sender back over the splash baffles at bottom of tank. Thats the fun part...
