1993 240 was showing hot while my son was driving. So since I've had it 2 years and have not changed coolant or thermostat (I have changed temp sensor) I figured I would do so. I jumped the temp compensation board but the needle was still going up near the red zone. I was grabbing and squeezing the upper hose to see if I could hold it (if you can you are probably not overheating) and I noticed that the thermostat housing was showing liquid each time I squeezed it. It was in tight but I fouled up by purchasing it at Autozone. The gasket that they sold me did not wrap around the thermostat like the volvo original does. Therefore I wasn't getting a good seal. I bought it at AZ because I wanted it quick. I ended up going to Volvo and paying about $27. (ouch)for the right one. I'm not sure what FCP or Eeuro stocks, probably the correct ones.
