V70 head gasket question, sorry if this isn't the V70 section

What year is it? If you like the car, replace the head gasket. But it's your call whether you want to spend the money.

Have you had the water pump replaced? If so, when? With the timing belt? Did the mechanic also do the tensioner with the timing belt?

I don't believe the head would crack as it is an all-aluminum engine. Most likely it is a bad head gasket. Worst case scenario is the head is warped but I seriously doubt it if you only drove the car in the red for 3 minutes...
