Hard start with intake backfire 200 1991

I am having the Same issue with my 1979 245.
It started as a hard start issue that just got worse and worse. fuel economy plummeted. Finally the Hard start would take 20 times then it would start and would restart fairly easily after warming up. then the hard starts began backfiring through the intake and it stopped starting altogether. now she just cranks and backfires.
I have not been able to solve this issue.
