740 problems! HELP! 700 1989

I have a 1989 740 turbo. And she's been having some problems. Under heavy acceleration it cuts in and out like its not providing enough gas but the thing is its using waaaay too much gas I spent 100 dollars in gas in one day! I've just started to take her apart and I've discovered oil in the intake piping going from the intercooler to the throttle body. This is my first time working on a Volvo and I have no idea!
