This turned out to be a crumbled distributor rotor. When I removed the rotor, it fell into 3 pieces! I`m amazed the car ran at all. I checked valve clearances and only 3 or 4 needed minor adjustment. I adjusted timing to about 15 degrees BTDC (according to the timing light) and it is running well. It seemed a little sluggish at 10 degrees BTDC. I`ve got a B18D motor.
