130K miles is just about right for a new set of shocks. The car guys always tell you to do a bounce test, but that doesn't really work unless the shocks are already toast. Your best test is to watch the hood of the car when you come to a stop, does the car move back up when the wheels finally come to rest?
Also, if hitting small bumps feels harsh, you need new shocks.
Get a new set and you will notice a smoother ride, have less tire wear, and better cornering response. You got your money's worth from the current set.
