SU problem 444-544

If that wasn't all of it it was certainly part of it! Look over your PCV system and maybe try pinching hoses to help locate unwanted air supplies. I remember once my 164 was doing stuff like that and I finally got under the hood with it running and kept hearing clanking noises when I gave it the gas after it had been idling a while. I finally noticed movement in the back carb - all 4 mounting nuts were loose and it was moving back and forth on the mounting studs, banging against the manifold flange. Once I tightened it up, it was fine!
I'm not sure there is a fix for "stupid"..... Keeping your eyes open helps a lot though!
