A bigger issue with syntetics in an overdrive is the slipping that occurs between the various friction surfaces inside the OD.

I strongly recomend no synthetic gear lubes in older ODs designed for gear lubes and ONLY a type F rated synthetic in newer J and P type ODs.

Synthetic oil is usually OK in warmer climates only.

Most people will do what they do no matter what the auto's engineers and lubrication specialist's recommend.
