RJAMER, I took the liberty of starting a new thread with your inquiry about performance with the 32/36 rather than stepping on the "Are you tired of.." thread. My first question is--was this a "kit" specifically for a B18/B20? -- or a 32/36 manifold along with an "unknown" 32/36 carb. Those carbs came in kits for everything from 1200cc Datsun motors to motors larger than the B20. My point being--was the carb jetted close to the needs of the B18/20 from the get-go?
For the B18/20 you'll probably see the primary (32mm throttle) main jet in the 125-140 range--the secondary (36mm)in the 140-160 area. The air correction jets (ACJ for our purposes) need to work together with the main jets---and the contour of the emulsion tubes (ET)- located below the air correction jets are very much involved with proper mixture at steady cruising speed. The wrong contour ET can cause a leaning out condition.
Another - but rare - occurrance could be icing of the carb. To know that would require stopping when this happens--and looking down the carb throat to see if ice is forming. One cure for that is pre-heated air. The carb filter housing from Ford Pinto can be modified (they used a Holley version of the 32/36) to fit the generic Weber. Do you have the manifold coolant passage hooked up to the heater hoses?
My notes are buried somewhere and it's been a very long time since I've worked with a 32/36 so I can't be more specific---but it would help if you made a posting listing all the jet sizes in there now. -- Dave
