Putting the heater control mounting clip back in 444-544 1958

I'm replying to my own message. I figured it out. The trick is--as you put the unit back into the dash, you must make sure the top part goes in first and sits as far forward as possible. Then the bracket pushes against the unit from the bottom, holding it snugly in place. Here's a side view of the clamp. The S portion pushes against the bottom of the unit while the C portion snaps into place along the bottom of the dash frame.
