Hi Randy,

Have you tried shifting the car into reverse from the neutral position? It may be a linkage problem. Even though the car shuts down with the idle raised, I would still check the IAC valve and the throttle position switch for function. 215K is not a lot of mileage for a 240, my 86 245 is still going strong after 300k+.
