Crank Position Sensor Testing - Intermittent no start again Ugh 700 1990

Like many 240 and 760 owners I am again chasing a intermittent no start/spark problem. I was towed to the shop a couple of months ago after changing most of the electrical parts. It turns out my CPS of 4 years was bad even though it looked fine. The one that I replaced four years ago had all the insulation gone so it looked broken. Here is my question. Can I unplug the CPS and measure some kind of voltage while I am cranking to know my "new" CPS is working and I have another problem without buying another one? My new one is only a couple of months old. Also, has anybody added voltages to the wiring diagrams? I never know what voltage I am supposed to have at a given connector. Any help would be appreciated. I feel fortunate to be having my no spark/start episode in my driveway instead of at work or the grocery store, which has happened before.
