installed pertronix ignition/diode wiring kit but no start 1800

I just put my distributor back in my '68 with a pertronix ignition installed (had the distributor rebuilt and they installed the pertronix at the same time). My car has the single terminal coil - armored cable from ignitin switch to coil, so i bought the diode wiring kit from IPD.

To be honest, i consider myself next to hopeless when it cmes to wiring, but i was told this was an easy process. Anyhow, i did what the instructions said... was a little confused where to connect the wires from the diode kit (one being to the solenoid on the starter and the other to a 12 volt key-on power source).

I know that if I at least got the wire going to the solenoid correct the car would fire up but die when the key switched to the run position. However, i get no start at all. It cranks and sounds like it really wants to fire up but no dice.

Any thoughts or folks who have been down this path???
