checking front wheel bearings

Movement at 12 and 6 (Only) usually means Upper and Lower Ball joints,

Movement at 3-9 ( only) usually means Tie rod ball joints

Movement 12-6, 3-9 and every other opposing sides usually means loose or bad Bearings.
Not necessarily bad, just lose. Tighten with a socket or Pliers just enough so the Play goes away. There are torque specs but basically you want them tight enough to get rid of the Play but not so tight that you are stressing the bearings.
