I had the M47 5 speed rebuilt by a local shop about two years ago. The fifth gear bearings were making a lot of noise. The rebuilder said that he replaced all of the bearings, and the rest of the trans looked "mint" after nearly 300K miles of use. I've put about 25K on the trans since the rebuild, with no problems except for a leaky rear main engine seal that contaminated a brand new clutch. Last fall, I replaced the trans fluid with Redline MTL and overfilled as usual. The last few days, I've had to do some long highway trips of about 150 miles each. When I started out today, the gearbox was making a soft groaning noise in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but quieted down in fourth. By the time I returned from my trip, the noise was a lot louder *LOUD* and you could hear the throw out bearing clicking when the clutch was released with the trans in neutral....
I already know that this is not good, but could someone please tell me what I'm in for? Thanks.
