240 NO START-continued 200 1991

I still have a no-start condition on my 91 244.

This is a continuation of a previous thread, but I was asked to start a new one due to the length of the old one...

The car in questions will not start under normal circumstances... I know hwat the problem is, and can by-pass the symptoms, but I would like to solve the problem correctly.

The problem is that the ignition system is powering OFF when the key is in the III position (when cranking) When the key is in position II, everything is fine, and the ignition system is powered as normal.

The only way I can get the car to run is by adding a jumper wire to the coil while the car is cranked. this allows the ignition system to get power while the car is cranking. The car fires right up, and the jumper wire has to be removed.

Short of tracing the wire from the ignition switch, I have tried many diagnostic tests. I tried removing the blue wire from the coil and cranking the car. I did lose voltage, so I feel that the problem lies in the wiring between the ignition switch and the coil.

Any help with this problem would be appreciated...
