starting S90-V90 1997

190,000 mi. start car. drive to town. Park car and return minutes or hours later. car turns over but will not start. leave for a few hours, return and car starts normally.
sometimes down arrow warning light blinks and transmission mode lights blink on and off in sequence. does not seem to affect transmission at all and eventually returns to normal, warning lights go off. do not know if this has anything to do with starting problem or not.
