A quick question for those who have the all black door/fender mouldings. 200

Is the "top" of the moulding supposed to be shinny like the lower half? I have a set of all black trim that I'm thinking about using on my 89 that just came out of the paint shop. The top of trim has a texture to it.I got these mouldings from a PNP some time ago and put them away. Now I think I'll use them on the 89 240DL.My thinking is the trim originaly came all shinny and after some years in the sun has developed this textured look.Or was it always textured? Can't decide whether to leave them alone or polish them on a buffing wheel. Thanks for your help.
