Loaded the spring?? Bearing frozen is even better for impact, because now you have the spring's inertia as well as the shaft's. Give it another whack, and think Mark Reynolds instead of Hulk Hogan.

Alternatives previously posted here include taking the struts to the local service garage and begging them to loosen them for you. Has to be cheaper than acquiring one more of the fine plumber's tools from Ridge Engineering.
