When it rains.....it pours. New electrical issue 200 1986

Just couldn't go a week without another issue.....not that I'm complaining mind you. So anyway, this afternoon while driving home with the a/c on and the fan speed on 3 of 4, the speed suddenly jumped to speed 4. I then dialed it up to speed 4 and it sounded like speed 5 if there were a #5. When the a/c compressor would cycle off, the speed would rise just a little, when it engaged it would lower somewhat. When I stopped at a light and the car's RPM dropped to idle, the fan speed would drop. When I took off, the fan speed jumped back up to it's new fast speed. What's up with this. I replaced the blower motor, resistor and switch about 5 yrs ago with a Siemens unit. PITA, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Could this be a failing resistor?
Any help as always is appreciated.

Thanks.
