I am trying to solve an intermittently fluctuating speedometer needle in a 1992 944 GL. I suspect the speedometer itself is faulty and have disassembled the instrument panel as described here:

I would like to hand it over to a professional gauge repair shop. Unfortunately, searching Brickboard and the wider Web has yet to turn up a shop that works on gauges made by Yazaki. One shop claimed that no spare parts or technical information have ever been released for these gauges, making third party repair impossible.
Can anyone point me to a shop that diagnoses and repairs Yazaki gauges? Or was the one shop right, and I'm stuck looking for a junkyard gauge?
