In my 94 940 wagon (non turbo) my alternator belt needs to be replaced. I went to put a new one in there and realized that it requires taking off the belt running the AC compressor first. The AC doesn't work on the car and I never need to use it--here in coastal CA things stay cool enough year round. Maybe this is a stupid question, but... can I just take the belt off the AC to install the alternator belt, and not put it back on? Is there any harm in not having the compressor hooked up?
