Problem unscrewing AC fitting

Actually, the threads and the flare seemed to survive perfectly but the nut part of the fitting will not spin free on the pipe part of the crimped-on assembly. When I try to rotate the nut it won't budge... it is stuck. If I turn any harder I will be twisting the pipe that the nut is supposed to slide on. It has transformed into a one-piece flare fitting.
