The old C-47 (DC-3) radial-engine goony birds had a built-in "Oil Dilution Valve"
that diverted raw fuel into each engine's oil tank.
The instructions were to dilute the oil for "X" seconds, just before engine shut-down. Dilution period X varied according anticipated low temp.
Apparently the radial's tolerated this treatment OK.
I once cut the oil an old beater Chevvy with kerosene for cold-weather operation.
Not unheard of in the early '50s.
