The circuit is very basic.
You should have +12 on the coil +, the other coil terminal should be connected to the points, check for continuity there. There should be +12 at the points when they are open, 0 when closed.
I'd suspect no +12 to coil, so you should look at ignition switch wiring which goes to the coil.
Would help if you had a wiring diagram.
