Recently we "enjoyed" a period with those rules in effect. Because it coincided with the new, fast server, I guessed it was a permanent change. I think I read somewhere, long time ago, Jarrod's philosophy on anonymous posting was getting that registration hurdle removed from first time visitors-- a very real barrier to many who don't absolutely need to post, but yet could fall into a valuable discovery, and then later find the time to register. Not all boards have spam as the major reason for identifying users. Challenge for the spam hunter in some of us?
