I would use straight distilled vinegar. The stuff you buy in the stores is about a 3% solution of acetic acid. Why cut it to 1.5%? It won't hurt anything used straight.

You might also consider taking the seat out of the car to do this. You can get the carpet, the underside of the seats, etc.

BTW, you can buy a dehumidifier bag-thingy at Walmart (or similar stores) to hang in your closet which absorbs moisture. Perhaps this would be useful for lengthy storage.
