My 1989 245 has dealer-installed (pre-delivery) foglights, which involve a switch in the console, heavy-gauge yellow wiring (with an in-line fuse under the hood), and a black relay over near the infamous 25 amp fuse. Perhaps you car was once equipped with fogs, too?

Have never investigated which circuit these are on.
