which would you purchase????need help deciding

82 242 with B23e and 5 speed retrofitted from older Volvo with working OD and 218 miles and some rust OR

90 245 with b230f and 4 speed auto.and 147 k miles and no rust?

I need a car to commute for 40 minutes each way on the highway. While I'd really like the 242 for it's handeling and 15 inch wheels, the 245 seems more practical as it easily can handle huge loads and is newer.

In terms of mpg, I'm assuming that the newer one will get slightly better mileage.

any help is appreciated
