Sorry - knee jerk cut and paste that didn't really answer you questions.

I want to qualify this by saying I haven't had my coffee yet and I'd get a second opinion, but the hex nut lifts or lowers the seat where the needle goes, so if you turn the hex nut upwards it should raise the seat and thus lean out the mixture.
